Description:

Summary: In creating or mounting encrypted disk images with Disk Utility and hdiutil, I cannot paste into the password dialog. Steps to Reproduce: (1) Launch Disk Utility. (2) From the File menu, select New, Blank Disk Image. (3) Name the disk image. (4) Select Encryption: AES-128. (5) Select Create. (6) Switch to another application. (I want to use Keychain Access, but for the purposes of this demonstration, TextEdit would be easiest.) (7) Select some text, and copy it into the clipboard. (8) Switch back to Disk Utility. (9) In the Authenticate dialog, click in the Password field. (10) Type command-v to paste. Expected Results: The selected text is pasted into the Password field. Actual Results: Nothing happens. Regression: This problem also occurs in Mac OS X 10.4, 10.4.1, and 10.4.2. It does not occur in 10.3.9. I'm able to paste into the password dialog in Panther. Notes: The workaround, of course, is to type in the text by hand. However, this is very tedious and prone to error if you want to use an extremely secure password: a password that is long, random, and un-guessable/un-memorizable.
