Summary: Flash content in a web page can track mouse events and change the nature of the mouse pointer, even making it disappear. This is expected, but it also happens when the Flash content is 'under' Safari's tab bar or bookmarks bar, which is not expected. Steps to Reproduce: (1) Open Safari (2) Show the booksmarks bar and the tab bar. (3) Load http://www.informit.com/articles/article.asp?p=770178&f1=rss&rl=1 (4) Scroll the web page until the Flash-based ad is directly covered by the bookmarks bar. (5) Hover the mouse over the bookmarks bar. Expected Results: The mouse pointer is visible. Actual Results: The mouse pointer is not visible. Regression: This also happens when running Safari with the WebKit TOT (currently Revision 23894), checked out from svn and built myself. It's not necessary that both the bookmarks bar and the tab bar be displayed; it happens with either one alone. Notes: I've attached a screenshot of the bug as Safari.png. In the screenshot, my mouse is hovering over the "Temp" bookmark, and you can see that the bookmark is highlighted, but the mouse pointer is invisible. The Flash-based ad is the one with the dogs. The dog heads move to track the mouse; you can see two of the dog heads directed at where the mouse is hovering. 01-Jul-2007 Jeff Johnson: This appears to be a WebKit bug, because I've confirmed it in Vienna 2.1 and 2.2 http://vienna-rss.sourceforge.net/vienna2.php, which uses WebKit to display tabs. Unfortunately, the Flash ad on informit.com seems to have disappeared. However, you can also see this kind of behavior at http://www.youtube.com/. If you scroll donw until the "Videos being watched right now.." is under the bar, you can see that the web page is tracking mouse events even when the mouse is over the tabs or bookmarks.
